Having a website with your own domain is the probably the most important marketing tool. The three primary reasons are:
- A permanent location to find you. In this mobile world having a static place where your current contact information and artwork can be found allows your customer to find you. With your own domain you can travel and change your contact information. When you have your website “under” someone else’s domain you are at their mercy if they decide to go out of business or add required features to your website.
- A base for all other marketing efforts. Whenever possible, build your brand and send people to your website. Include all photos on your website and then use those images to promote your latest art whenever possible. This will help build organic traffic to your website too.
- You have control of the presentation of your art on the website. With your own domain you can decide what features are the most important to you and incorporate your own style.
